Consider it homemade fireworks. The spark show is done by belting a steam engine into a device that will create a heavy load on the engine. The next step is to get a good hot fire burning then fill the firebox full of sawdust. With the engine working hard and the flecks of sawdust burning they are shot 30 to 40 feet into the air creating beautiful colors much like the fireworks most people enjoy each year.
