History
  How it all began...

In the summer of 1956 The Miami Valley Steam Threshers (an organization founded in the early 1950's) decided upon The Lease Farm in Greenville, Ohio for their show. The Lease Farm was located approximately where the "Wendy's" restaurant is located now on Wagner Ave. This was to be known as the first steam show in Darke County and the first of 4 homes for The Darke County Steam Threshers.

The following year, 1957, The Miami Valley Steam Threshers moved on to a new location but The Darke County Steam Threshers stayed in the Greenville area. However it was decided a larger area was needed for the show and thus was moved to a new location. The new location was The Harve Estey Woods on Ohio Route 571. Later this location would be renamed The Lloyd Seman Woods. The Estey/Seman Woods is located apporximatly across the road from where the GTI factory now resides. The Darke County Steam Threshers annual reunion prospered here for about 10 years. Displaying all forms of steam powered equipment and performing exhibitions. These exhibitions' included threshing, plowing, and sawmill operations. Even challenges of hill climbing and balancing on a teeter totter were done to prove skill of machine operation.

Through the growing of The Darke County Steam Threshers Reunion and expanding into now aging internal combustion powered equipment such as stationary engines and tractors the show outgrew The Lloyd Seman Woods. The decision was made to move once again, this time to The Darke County Fairgrounds. The show remained here until 1998.

Wanting to get back to their roots, be able to have a more active show, and being limited in what activities were allowled at the fairgrounds, the club began looking for a new home. The York Woods was found and the first show here would be in 1999. At the York Woods, The Darke County Steam Threshers has had the opportunity to grow once again. Now able to host even more events than ever before, you will be able to see not only many of your old favorites, but many new attractions as well.
